This hike is quite enjoyable, but we rank it lower because we couldn’t fully appreciate its beauty due to very foggy weather. We couldn’t see any viewpoints, but the trail itself is very nice, and with good weather, it must be exceptional!

Practical information:
- Duration: 4 hours
- Loop: Yes
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Distance: 10 km
Step 1: Parking in El Palmar
Parking in El Palmar is straightforward. There’s a Centro de Visitantes Parque Rural de Teno that provides maps and information. There are also public restrooms, and further up, there’s a free camping area called Zona De Acampada De Los Pedregales.
Step 2 Climb with a View of Montaña de El Palmar (Montaña Zahorra)
The trail starts with a gradual climb through fields lined with cacti and beautiful succulent plants typical of the region. As you gain a bit of altitude, the view of Montaña de El Palmar (Montaña Zahorra) becomes magnificent. However, the climb is quite steep and requires some effort.

Step 3: Heading to Teno
Once past the supposed viewpoint over Teide (which we unfortunately could not admire), the descent towards Teno begins. The route alternates between climbs and descents, but overall remains quite accessible and pleasant.

Step 4: Before Teno, Head to Baracan
Before reaching Teno, you pass a small religious hotel, which is not an attraction in itself but serves as a landmark on the route. Then follow the route indicated by Maps.me and take a section of the road for about 10 minutes before finding a trail with stairs towards Baracan. The ochre-red rock is splendid, and the trail goes through magnificent forests. Spectacular viewpoints are supposed to be revealed at this stage, but the fog prevented us from seeing anything. So we continue on our way.

Step 5: Cumbre del Carrizal
Arriving at Cumbre del Carrizal, we should enjoy incredible panoramas… Unfortunately, the weather still did not allow us to enjoy it. However, the trail remains very pleasant.

Step 6: Return to El Palmar
The return is via well-maintained trails that lead us gently back to El Palmar. For us, this hike ended in rain and wind, soaked and exhausted. But we are convinced that with a clear sky, this trail offers an absolutely magical experience!
